Gorillapod is a pretty good alternative for someone who looking for a mini tripod. It’s great for Point and shoot cameras like Canon Powershot SX20 IS camera or Any other light DSLR cameras. I don’t think would work well with heavy lenses. There are 3 models GP1, GP2 and GP3. Make sure you choose the correct model. For bigger cameras better get a GP3. You can read more in Amazon.com
