 Rayovac Rechargeable Hybrid NiMH Batteries are another good rechargeable batteries type you can use for your Canon Powershot SX20 IS camera. Rechargeable Batteries : High Capacity = High self-discharge ?

High self-discharge of these High Capacity Rechargeable Batteries is a real problem which all photographers have. There aren’t pretty much we can do about this. One good thing is it seems everyone who use  Sanyo Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries has better experience. Sanyo Eneloop batteries have low self discharge rate than any other type of Rechargeable Batteries. But still all High Capacity Rechargeable Batteries over 2500 mAh have higer self-discharge rate than low capacity rechargeable batteries.

Also there are few others things which matters like in higher and lower temperatures self discharge rate can be high I think. At least that’s what I have experienced.  Bottom line is if you are taking photos everyday and want your camera ready anytime I guess it’s better keep low capacity rechargeable battery set with you. Sanyo Eneloop 2000 mAh Rechargeable battery set would be great for that. If you want high capacity rechargeable batteries for like your external flash or field trips you can use Sanyo 2,700 mAh AA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries. They won’t hold power for weeks but ideal for short term, high capacity needs.

Sanyo Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries

If you are looking for Rechargable Batteries for your Canon powershot SX20 IS camera then Sanyo Eneloop Rechargable Batteries is something I can recommend you to buy. They are grat for their price. Sanyo Eneloop Rechargable Batteries have Extremely slow self-discharge rate and also Batteries can be charged up to 1,000 times (including partially) without experiencing memory effect. 
Self discharge is One of the biggest problems I have with rechargeable batteries. Self-discharge means that a charged battery slowly discharges itself without any equipment consuming any current. This is the reason for rechargeable batteries being sold in a discharged state. And this is the reason that keeping charged batteries for some time did not make any sense. When you needed them, the energy was gone. Sanyo eneloop batteries have an extremely low rate of self-discharge, which means they hold their stored energy for a very long time–charge your batteries once and put them in your kitchen drawer, and over a year from now you’ll still be able to use them right away, without needing to charge them again. But I have to say more you recharge any type of  rechargeable Batteries Self discharge rate goes up. Whatever they say this happens.
If you going to use Your Canon Powershot SX20 IS camera for whole day field trip then you gonna need 2 extra sets of rechargeable batteries. So Sanyo Eneloop Rechargeable Batteries would be a good choice. Also remember to use Sanyo charger because since its same brand you can get better result and more life time.
