Canon SX20 IS camera use AA size Rechargeable Batteries or Alkaline batteries. But Rechargeable Batteries are the popular and practical method since Alkaline batteries are disposable. Canon SX20 camera needs 4 AA size Rechargeable Batteries and it's better keeping anther 4 set of Rechargeable Batteries since you will need them specailly if you use flash a lot. You might need more if you plan to buy a External flash or using one.
